Public Awareness and Media Campaign - ‘Dementia Friends Initiative’
Partnering with media houses/groups using public service announcements and other public awareness avenues:
(i) to bring awareness of dementia to the public, improve understanding of the development of dementia in the Nigerian population and the society’s role in caring for people living with dementia and other mental health challenges;
(ii) invite people to register for the dementia training programme;
(iii) advocate for dementia-friendly policies and communities.

Dementia Training Programme
Bespoke workshops and training for people drawn from diverse sector/groups - health [doctors, nurses, principals of nursing school, and care home providers], leaders from faith-based organizations / community / women's groups / social groups, media personalities, carers of people living with dementia, workplace managers, and government officials.
These people will further promote the dementia project in their communities and be critical in advocating/providing quality support and care for people living with dementia.

Dementia Support and Health Protection Centre
Health and social care services provided in the centre include:
i). Dementia Daycare – provides care for people living with dementia during working hours
ii). Respite care - provides up to 2 months residential care for people living with dementia.
iii). Residential Care – provides residential care over 2 months for people living with dementia.
iv). General health screening - glucose, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), advice on all types of dementia

Certification of Dementia Care Homes
AFfIH will work with the State Government to ensure appropriate regulation of practice concerning the care of people living with dementia. AFfIH will design a certification programme for dementia care homes to ensure high quality care.

Dementia Refuge Points (DRPs)
Drop off points for people living with dementia who have lost touch with family members. These refuge centres are staffed by trained 'dementia friends' and health professionals.

Models of Inclusive Health and Social Care
AFfIH aims to develop a model for supporting people living with dementia. The idea is to extend it to develop models that can be used to support people living with other long term health conditions and social care challenges.
